New York Steak with French Onion Sauce
Ingredients:
1 strip streak (or T-bone if not available)
8 large mushrooms
¼ c half and half
1 T garlic
1 t olive oil
salt and pepper
Green and Red French Onion Dip
3 green onions
¼ red onion
1 c plain sour cream
½ c mayonnaise
1 T canola oil
1 t garlic powder
salt and pepper
Directions:
Begin with preparing the French onion dip. Chop up finely the red onion. In a saucepan, heat the canola oil on medium heat. Place in the red onions, lower heat, and allow to caramelize, about twenty minutes. Chop up green onions, place into food processor with sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Combine until mixture is well blended. Place into bowl, add the red onions, stir and set aside.
Meanwhile, salt and pepper the steak. Slice up the mushrooms. With two saucepans, heat on medium. Place a small amount of oil in each. Place the mushrooms and garlic into one pan, the steak in the other. When the mushrooms are sautéed, add ½ cup of French onion dip, half and half, salt and pepper. Allow the sauce to heat and slightly thicken.
Cook steak to desired heat, place onto plate. Place sauce over top and enjoy! Go Jets!
Hushpuppies
1 c cornmeal
¾ c flour
1 t baking powder
1 jalapeno
2 green onions
1 egg
½ t cayenne
1 t sugar
½ c cheddar
1 c buttermilk
canola oil for frying
Directions:
Chop up the jalapeno and green onions, place into medium mixing bowl. Shred the cheddar cheese. Add the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, egg, cayenne, sugar, cheddar, and buttermilk. Mix together and refrigerate for 1 hour.
Place about one-inch of oil in a deep frying pan, bring to medium heat. Add large dollops of the batter into hot oil. Allow each side to reach a light brown. Drain on paper towels and enjoy! Go Titans!
