Healthy Cheeseburgers
Yields 1 Cheeseburger
Ingredients:
1/3 lb 95% lean ground beef
1 slice Gouda cheese
¼ c spinach
2 pieces of red leaf lettuce
2 slices of tomato
1 slice of red onion
1 slice of red onion
1 thin whole-wheat bun
1 t mustard
1 t ketchup
1 T garlic
1 t chili powder
1 t crushed red pepper
1 t paprika
1 t cumin
1 t basil
1 t oregano
1 t Frank’s red hot
salt and pepper
Directions:
In
a large bowl, place the ground meat. Add the garlic, salt, pepper, chili
powder, crushed red pepper, paprika, cumin, basil, oregano, and Frank’s red hot
sauce. Mix the spices with the meat and form into a patty. Heat the BBQ to
medium-high heat.
Meanwhile,
you can slice up the vegetables according to how many patties you are making.
It is always good to prepare so when the burgers come off of the BBQ, you are
ready to build the burger and eat. Bring the slices of cheese and buns outside.
When
the patties has been flipped, and almost done, about 5-7 minutes, add the
cheese on top, buns on the grill and close lid. This will allow the cheese to melt to the patty and to toast the bun.
Remove from heat, add bun, veggies, and condiments. And, enjoy!
